Fantastic Sardine Cats

Good news folks is that I have yet to die of swine flu. I live to enjoy another day!

Other than an untimely and unexpected snowstorm today, I am feeling fantastic. I slept in until 10:30am and had a nice leisurely breakfast, while studying for my Social Psychology test this weekend. I then took a nice afternoon shower, and headed off to my only class of the day at 3. The first 20min or so of class were spent on a presentation from some people from USU trying to recruit us all to become Rehabilitation Counselors. At the end of the presentation our professor announced that he had received a call from his babysitter saying that his kid was throwing up and that we were just going to take the quiz and leave. My hour and a half class became a half hour class and I got a 9/10 on the quiz!!

Tonight I shall be joining my roommates and friends for a night of sardines in the Snow building. And for this weekend I have officially turned down an offer to go skydiving (for a mere $180). Not just for the expense but also because I remembered my test. I guess I'll just have to go another time!

Now to try and remove a grass stain from the only pair of jeans that really fits me...any suggestions?

Swine Making Class

It is pretty weird to be in Idaho instead of home and to be a week into classes when everyone else is finishing up their last semester. I'll get used to it probably about by July 23 when I'm done. I have a lot to say/update you on so I'm just going to make a list.

- Second week of classes and I am feeling a little overwhelmed. My classes don't have a lot of assignments, but a lot of reading and it's a hard to keep up with them all!
- My favorite class my far is my Personality class. On our second day of discussing Freud our professor informed all of the females in class that secretly we wanted him, because he reminded us of our dads. The next class he showed up 13 min late and walked in without apology and asked, "Now why would Freud say I showed up late for class today?" It's going to be a fun semester in that class!
- I am apparently a master matchmaker in the making, as my old roommate and friend is now dating Boy's roommate. This is after only a week of them knowing each other!
- Boy and I are no longer in the same FHE group, and I have to say I kind of miss being able to say I am dating my brother and just having him in my group in general.
- I learned via an email from the school that the swine flu could invariably take my life and Arnold I think feels similarly as California is now in a state of emergency. ::puts on mask and rubber gloves::
- I read a funny article today about a woman who sent a stripper in her place to her 10 year high school reunion. She rigged said stripper with a mic and cameras in order to see the reaction of her former peers to her now being a stripper. It got me to thinking...

I hope you all are having a fabulous week and that where ever you are it is not snowing and is a good 10 degrees warmer than it is here!!

Shelves, Rolls, and Baskets...Oh my!

What a lovely week of doing nothing! Not even updating you on my life! But I shall now.

I have spent the last few days getting settled into my new apartment, which even though it is identical to my old apartment, has significantly less space for my things. Because of this I bought and built these wonderful $13 shelves from K-Mart.

When I pulled everything out of the box, and saw that there were no directions, I was rather scared, but using my inquisitive mind and excellent problem solving skills, I figured it out.

And they now top my dresser and store mostly my food that does not fit in my kitchen. Thanks Dan for the screw diver!!

I also decided to expand my culinary horizons and try to make cabbage rolls. I made the I-don't feel-like-waiting-for-them-to-cook-for-45 min version. And they turned out pretty good. And it helped not to have any of my roommates home. (I don't liked to be watched while I cook experimentally!)
(Cabbage rolls mid-making. My quick version only involved cooked beef, tomatoes, and sour cream rolled up in a cabbage leaf.)

(The finished product, before being cooked for 15 min. Perhaps some day I will make the real ones to compare.)

When Boy returned from his stay at home Thursday, he was bearing an Easter basket that his mother had made in my honor. While it is full of wonderful chocolate and beef jerky, I'm worried at the implications of its arrival into my hands. I'll just eat the chocolate and not worry about it.

Easter Packed

So, I am packed and moved to my new apartment upstairs and I am staying with Scott and Cassie till Thursday!! Adventures are sure to come...once I get off the couch...

But until then, here are some pictures of my "move".

Packing...just be glad you didn't see what my room looked like before this point.

My room now emptied out and spiffy clean...it looks a little naked...oh wait that word isn't allowed here at BYUI. Shhh...don't tell anyone!

This is all of my stuff (minus stuff in my closet and food still in the freezer and refrigerator), I don't have very much....but I think that's a good thing.

Some of my stuff in Boy's car while he drove me down to Scott and Cassie's, we then went out to lunch at Sonic before he headed home to Meridian.

I wish that I had gotten more pictures of our Easter feast, but Dan and I cooked up a regular passover wonderment. Fish, eggs, potatoes, and carrots. I even tried my hand and cooking Talopia and turned out great!! Dan's potatoes were amazing! Like candy.

Here's to an amazing week with nothing to do!!

Scholarly Projects

In honor of all the work I have put into these two projects, I am going to give you the best I can...pictures.
This is a sample page from the scholarly journal we put together for my Professional writing and research class. The articles were all written by my classmates, but were edited by me and the editorial board. If you recall a post long long ago...I was excited because I was named Editor in Chief, it was for this!

Our table of contents...I am ashamed to say that it took me over an hour just to format this so everything would be straight.

Our cover designed by one of the lovely ladies in our group. As you can see by the title, we created a journal about popular literature. With a cover like this maybe we'll be writing articles about ourselves soon!!

This is a second poster for my Research Methods class. This one is based on quantitative data while the other one was qualitative. As it is a professional poster we aren't allowed to make it pretty. But I think mine looks PRETTY professional. = ) If you look really closely you might be able to read some of it. I think it a phenomenally refreshing view of self-bias and its impact on our views of other people.

Week-ish News Exam

Along with all of my finals comes some good and exciting news, of varying goodness and excitement.

1) There are only two more days of classes and I think I'm going to make it!
2) The weather here in Rexburg has been phenomenal. It has been up hear 60 this week. This means students strewn out across any lawn they can find on campus, with anyone they can find on campus, and in any number of awkward and compromising positions that I am not sure are necessarily accepted on campus. Yay for the arrival of Spring.
3) I can sell my textbooks back and get moneys.
4) I will be staying with Scott and Cassie for a week-ish during break.
5) My bruise is finally gone (yes it is just now gone) so I can start giving plasma again.
6) I am putting together a scholarly journal for my professional writing class and it is going to be an amazing 40 pages long!!
7) I do not have to take my 172 question cumulative Sensation and Perception exam until Thursday.
8) I will be moving apartments this next semester so as to avoid any more disappearing money or grease fires (although it is just upstairs and fires spread).
9) Dan is going to be in my ward next semester and living in my complex!!
10) A rather violent tickle fight last night that resulted in a lens popping out of my glasses was quickly resolved with the aid of Boy's roommate's mini screwdrivers.

(This is my $10 printer. It works great and is pretty much brand new!)

Picture This...

Pictures...lots of them!!
This is a great shot of the lines going into the conference center. The first session we were there I accidentally looked at our PM tickets and we stood in the wrong line for like 15 min. It's a good thing we had people saving our seats!!This is the wonderful family who got us our tickets! They lied in Tennessee where boy served his mission. The boys were rambunctious but fun to hang out with. I made them paper cranes to keep them busy during the second session. What a great mom I will be!

One of the boys, I remember which one, took our picture for us while we waited for the session to start!
This is taken from my seat. Yes, we were that close. Elder Christofferson is the lone man in the middle of the shot. And I think it is Elder Bednar just to the right of that guys head.

Sarah and I saw these sitting in the hallway in the house where we were staying and immediately thought, "DAD!!"

This is the room where Sarah and I slept...I'm thinking it used to be a play room...it smelled like gummy bears.

This was the room across the hall from the room where Sarah and I slept where we spent most of our time. And this is the location in which I learned how to play pool! I am very glad that the lounge here where I live has several pool tables, as I think I will definitely be using them!!

Rapid Weekends

I had an amazing weekend. It pretty much was the worlds longest double date, and I'm glad that Sarah could be a part of the other couple!! Boy apparently has great connections, not only did he get us a place to stay that was only 10 min from downtown Salt Lake, but also tickets for both sessions on Saturday. It was a truly amazing experience. I had not been in the same room as the prophet since the Temple Jubilee when the Manhattan temple was dedicated. I have quite a few fun pictures to share but that will have to wait until I retrieve my camera from Boy's car!

My fun weekend is short lived by the rapidly approaching finals week (only a few hours away). It doesn't help that I accidentally slept 4 hours after getting back, but given the week ahead it may have been worth it!

Check back for the super fantastic pictures!!

Printing Lumberjacks

This is a picture from our Geology field trip last weekend. We were a pretty big group and there was a lot of snow! I have cleverly labeled the picture in case you couldn't tell it was me by my lumberjack jacket. The lovely lady next to me is Sarah from the Tomsriver ward. She apparently thought I smelled, which may have been true.

I bought a printer today...for $10. And there was much rejoicing. This guy was selling it through the schools bulletin board and I happened upon it! It is a practically new HP deskjet and he even gave me the cords I needed and two ink cartridges. I think I definitely am the win-ah mahn!

I am leaving tomorrow after my last class to head down to Salt Lake with Boy, and I have yet to decide whether or not to bring my lappy with me. So if you don't hear from me forever...that's why! We did find a place to stay with one of Boy's old missionary companions! Thank you all those who offered!

A Foolish Disregard

List of jokes I almost played on people today but just didn't have the heart to do or realized how dumb they were:
- Come in crying from being at Boy's right at curfew (12am) to tell my roommates about Boy's disregard for the law of chastity.
- Put a note on the outside of our door that says "broken do not use."
- Call my mom and tell her I am engaged.
- Tell boy that the spirit told me I am supposed to marry him over break in two weeks. (I realized that this one could result in me getting married in less than a month...maybe not a good idea.)
- Call anyone and tell them that I was pregnant.

Perhaps next year April 1st won't sneak up on me quite like it did this year and I will be better prepared. I was however rather amused at the antics of Google and youtube. Google has an announcement up for some crazy new software that doesn't exist and youtube has a new layout that involves everything being upside down!! Yay for a day of foolishness.
