Nostagic Activities

So last night I went to an International Cinema on campus. They were showing Nostalgia a Russian film that was mostly in Italian. It was pretty ridiculous and I'm not even referring to the Italian. I'm not even sure what the movie was about...I do remember a guy lighting himself on fire.

Tonight our ward is having a Ski/Snowboarding/Dinner/Games party at Kelly's Canyon. I am still trying to decide whether or not to try skiing. I am not sure that I am not ready to die, but it would probably be fun. If not I will spend some quality time with Boy in the lodge eating free food. My camera will be accompanying me and pictures will be shared!

(I still have yet to finish it....but it is a great book so far!!)

Global Potato Syndrome

Today was a great day minus only three hours of sleep preceding it. I fell asleep while watching "The Global Warming Swindle" parts 1-8 on youtube for my geology class. It actually was pretty interesting...I was just tired though.

Also interesting is simultagnosia, also called Balint Syndrome, a visual inability we discussed in Sensation and Perception course. Patients experiencing bilateral damage to the parietal lobe, do not have the ability to see more than one thing at a time. For example if they were to look at book on a table that is all they would see. Everything surrounding the book would seemingly not be present at all. Crazy.

This is also interesting, these my friends are the most delectable, grease free, homemade potato fries I made for lunch today. My only issue is that they tend to end up fairly dry and without adding fat I'm not sure how to change it. To fix the dryness issue earlier this week, I whipped up a bean dip (refried beans, a little bit of ranch, and ketchup) to dip them in....it was really good.

These are the inedible half of my Valentines gift from Boy. that would be the reason that they are still around for me to take a picture of since I had forgotten to earlier. They are dying but for some reason their decomposition smells deliciously like maple.

Experiencing Wallace Chat

Oh, what a day, what a day, what a beautiful day!

My second plasma experience went a lot better than the first. No nearly fainting and no hour long physical before hand. I also ran into Dan who was also there to donate, and we got a chance to chat for a while.

Unfortunately for me however, today the lovely Rexburg is experiencing 40mph winds and sporadic flurries. This made walking home quite the work out! It was also a reminder of how uncomfortable it is to have snowflakes flung up ones nostrils.

For those of you who have seen Yes Man, you will enjoy the fact that for my English class I am writing a paper on the movie and the book. To be more precise I will be exploring the binary opposites represented by author Danny Wallace and also seen in the film. Truly interesting....well it will be when I finally finish reading the book, which is pretty good by the way.

Pre-Olive Milestones

Remember when I would update this everyday? Those were the days; the pre-more than three upper level courses, pre-Boy, pre-sixteen credit load, pre-getting more involved in my own life.

I have to say though, that I have probably made the better exchange. I am ridiculously busy, but at least I have things to do now! Good things...

I went to Idaho Falls this weekend with Scott, Cassie, and Dan. We went to Winco (a wanna be Aldi's) and then to Olive Garden for lunch. I also went to the movies with Boy, one of his roommates, and two of mine. We saw Seven Pounds which was pretty much the saddest movie in the world. We all felt the need to go home and cry ourselves to sleep after that. It was nice though to hang out with Boy AND other people!

Boy and I reached yet another milestone in our relationship, one month since our first date. It was rather embarassing though, that Boy was the one to point this out to me, as I wasn't really counting. Is that bad? I don't think its bad, but society's high expectations natural female dating tendencies is making me feel rather insecure about my feminity. Thanks world....thanks.

Rapidly Rough...Really

I had a rough time getting back into the groove of classes today. I know it was only one extra day off, but for some reason it really threw me. Being that it was such a rough day for both of us (Boy and I), on our now coined "Spiritual Date" of the week (also known as devotional), we both fell asleep. Boy also came over later while I was rapidly finishing a paper bearing chocolate and hugs. What a nice guy!

April and I got a little sentimental today and watched clips of Lamb Chop on youtube...oh man what a funny show. I even got a new funny joke...Use fascinate in a sentence: I had nine buttons on my jacket but I could only fascinate!

Wow wow wow...now I really want to listen to the Standin' Tall tapes...I think the scrubbits could cheer me up...

Valen-hair-tines-cut

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!

I cut my hair a while ago and promised pictures to a lot of people, so here they are finally.

(It's a lot shorter than I have had it in a while, but I like it!! The layers look a lot better now than they did when I first cut it.)

(View of the front. Boy has informed me that this face is not very attractive. I think I may disagree with him on that one!)

So, Boy had hinted last night to having something somewhat planned to give me for Valentines Day today. And while laying in bed trying to sleep, I racked my brain trying to come up with something I could give him in return.

Ladies and Gentlemen....my answer!!

An embarrassing display of affection, and hugs when he brought by flowers and chocolate after lunch. Given that we both wanted to get our homework out of the way today, not much time was spent together but I think that is okay.

Hydrating Burns

Soooo...I'm not as tough as I thought I was.

I finished donating at around 4:30 and felt fine, so I began my journey home. For those of you who know the beautiful BYU-I campus, I made it to the steps beside the Hinkley building before I was so dizzy and nauseous that I had to sit down. My head between my legs didn't help very much and as I thought of who to call I only felt sicker. The health center was right across the street but I couldn't really even move. Finally a wonderful girl named Kim walked past and asked me if I was okay. My honest reply was of course "NO." She helped me to her car, which was a lot farther away than she made it sound like it was. I made it to my apartment and my roomies helped my hydrate.

(BTW those needles are huge!!)

Then less than three hours later I was representing the BYU-Idaho 15th ward in our very first basketball game. It was fun, but I am sure it will be funner when I do not feel like dying. Boy was nice enough to drive me down and watch me suffer! Even though I was on the very verge of death, I made at least 20 points (yay for no guys guarding girl rules!!) and had a giant girl fall on me giving me this beautiful floor burn/bruise...

(War wound #1)

Only me I tell you, only me.

Nonsensical Plasma

We had an absolutely embarrassing FHE last night. One of my roommates had the brilliant idea to play What If for our activity. In this game everyone writes down a question beginning with "What if" fold it and puts it in a bowl and everyone draws out a different one. On the back of that one they write an answer to the question they wrote. Then you go around in a circle reading the new nonsensical question answer pairs. It is a really fun game...however last night the majority of the questions were along these lines...

What if Josh and Emily got married before the end of the semester?
What if Josh hated Lola forever and ever? (she had written the above question)
What if Josh and Emily had twins?
What if Josh was really gay?

The answes with most of these were pretty lame, but still made both of us blush. According to our audiences blush-o-meters Josh was a lot redder than I. The answer to the last one was hilarious.

What if Josh was really gay? Then rainbows would cease to exist.

What a night. Today I will be giving plasma for the first time and getting $20 for my generosity. I also have a co-ed basketball game at 8:15 tonight which should be pretty fun. Not only have we never practiced but I don't even know who is on my team!! And hopefully I recover well from my plasma experience so I can really play!! Go BYU-I 15th ward!!!

Official Snowbook

So before my rm took me stadium singing, we had a dtr (avoiding any ncmo's) and we decided that since the last two weeks we have spent a large amount of our times together and plan on continuing to do so....that we would make ourselves official/go out/hook up/go steady/whatever you want to call it.

So for those of you who don't have facebook or any other means of knowing everything about my life...now you know!!

We also had a small snow fight in the newly fallen snow on the long walk home from stadium singing, and as a result I currently cannot feel my bum and no matter how many blankets I put on I am still cold!!

Sloppy Panther Pizza

Last night was rather fun. Craigo's had baked potato pizza again (my favorite) as well as one with hot wings which was also good (given that they weren't very hot). We remembered during dinner that Pink Panther 2 had come out that day and decided to go see that instead of bowling. We sat and talked for about an hour waiting for it but it was well worth it! "Let me bring you up to speed. We know nothing. You are now up to speed." Our date was not ruined by the snow but was made slippery and fun!!

Today I was able to hang out with Scott, Cassie, and Dan. I was reminded by our lunch (Mac and Cheese with Sloppy Joe leftovers stirred in) that you can't go wrong with Mac and Cheese!!No matter what you put in it!!

Complacent Snow

I looked out my window and what did I see?

Not popcorn, I wish. Instead Rexburg's famous horizontal snow.

Let's just hope that it doesn't try to interfere with Boy and my official date number two. We will be going to Craigo's for dinner and then bowling. Having a life is apparently expensive.

It has however been another week where I have seen him every day. My favorite activity of this week? April and I made him watch Ice Princess, and he was amazingly compliant.

Scatter-tastic-gories

Has anyone ever played Scattergories before? We played it at FHE last night and it was pretty fun! Just a quick out line of the game, you have a list of things (like farm animal, thing found in purse, article of clothing, etc) and you roll a die each round to choose a letter. You then must come up with an item for each thing on the list that begins with that letter.

Okay....now for the awesome part of this terrifically tantalizing tale. Boy and I were on the same team (of course), and the letter was "H". We were doing really well (Humvee for vehicle, horticulture for major, honey-buns for terms of endearment) but when we got to gifts/presents the only thing we could think of before the timer ran out was HIV. Needless to say everyone else voted our answer out and we didn't get points for it. I, however, thought that there was a compelling argument for its being the greatest answer in the world.

It was a lot of fun minus our wonderful "dad" forgetting to bring treats.

And now I am off to go grocery shopping for the first time in two weeks. I am trying to prepare my debit card for the impending blow by given it warm hugs. Do you think that will help make it not hurt so bad?!? I'll pretend it does.

Falling for Devotional

I had the most out of place experience today.

I had treated myself to a slice of pizza after my English class (it was 1pm and I wouldn't be home for another 4 hours). As I was walking to the Taylor to watch devotional, the man in front of me (rather large and probably 40 or so) tripped and fell. I sometimes don't stop and help, but felt compelled to. I asked him if he was okay. He lifted up his head, to reveal blood dripping from his nose. I left him with another girl and ran to go get napkins from the place I had just gotten my pizza from. When I got back there were 5 or 6 people gathered, including one of my old professors. He went to go find someone to help while we helped the guy stand up and stop the blood. When he got up we could see that he had smashed his nose pretty bad.

I had to leave because I was supposed to meet Boy, so I do not know how the rest of the story played out, but on my way to class after devotional I walked back past and they had painted the uneven edges of the sidewalk bright orange. So if you happen to be walking through the bottom of the Manwaring Center on the Taylor Quad side, and see ridiculous orange lines all over the sidewalk...you know why!!

And that was my exciting day. No really it was exciting.

Laundry Jokes

So, funny sensation and perception joke from class today. We are learning about vision still and how things that are symmetrical are easy for our eyes to see. Then he asked, what kind of person is symmetrical vertically as well as horizontally? The answer....a butt head!!

Anyways, I got a lot done today school wise and plan to tackle my laundry tomorrow. I have waited until the very last second when I have nearly nothing clean left. (And the pile on the end of my bed is ginormous!)

I think laundry is a good thing to do though....so it goes on the top of my list....right after everything else!

Great Aspirations

I have been thinking a lot about what to be when I grow up. You know, dream jobs that may or may not actually exist.

Jobs Emily Wants to Have When She Finally Grows Up:
- A stunt double for crazy awesome action movies. Or a stunt double for myself!
- A fire woman. Note: this is not a fire fighter....this would be the person who gives them a job!
- The person who makes the counter tops, floors, toilets, and cupboards grossly dirty so they can be used in commercials for cleaning products.
- Jim Carrey's wife.
