A Lobotomist's Halloween

I learned what a lobotomy is today. And by learned I mean I watched one be performed over and over and over again in a wonderful PBS documentary entitled "The Lobotomist." Simply saying that I am now scarred for life would be an understatement. The image of ice picks....eyes....mutilated frontal lobes...

This is a 9 year old boy whose mother thought that he was being disruptive and acting out as a result to a mental illness. the answer was of course a lobotomy. Walter Freeman's son told PBS that the first ice picks used in these operations were straight from their freezer. One of Freeman's patients died because the pick slipped and went straight through her brain, when he let go of it to take a picture. Wow.

I suppose it was a perfect video to share with the class on a wonderful Halloween. My stomach however did not agree.

My apartment complex had a Halloween party last night, and mistakenly thinking that it might be fun, I went with my roommates dresses as a Nudist on Strike. There were however only 20 or so people there and they were dancing (I don't dance) so I left and went to watch "The Eye" at some friends apartment. It was much funner and a lot less embarrassing. Midnight peanut butter cookies and a glass of milk sent me off into a wonderful slumber that lasted until 4am when my roommate got up to go to work.

Graded Vegas Leaves

They (better know as Big Brother) finally put up our midterm grades last night and thought I would share mine with you! Sorry the picture is so fuzzy! Let's just hope my grades all still look like this in six more weeks. Yes, only six weeks and two days until I'm home!

I might really just be procrastinating doing my English homework right now. I just don't feel like analyzing Dickinson, does any one ever?!? I also don't feel like writing a two page paper analyzing the lighting, or lack thereof, in the movie "The Last Sin Eater." Nor do I feel like re writing a paper that no one in the class got more than a D on.

I still don't have a ride down to Las Vegas to visit Sarah over Thanksgiving break. I am starting to get a little nervous. Like, maybe I should start walking now so I can get there before the 27th.

This Saturday at 10 am I am going to go rake random lawns for a communications project. I basically have to put in 20 hours of service throughout the next six weeks. So, raking lawns it is! It actually should be pretty fun. Our group is doing random acts of kindness, and we have come up with some pretty fun things to do. And you will get to hear all about them as they happen!

Gestaltian Kiva Dog

Do you see a dalmatian sniffing the ground? Or just a bunch of dots and smudges? According to Gestaltian Psychology, seeing the dog is due to the Law of Pragnanze (Yeah, pragnanze that!!), which states that our minds seek to organize and put order to everything we see. When my professor asked who could see the dog, not everyone raised their hands and he said, "Well if you can't there is a counseling center here on campus..." He's a funny, funny man.

In my sociology class we are learning about poverty and AIDS in Africa, and he showed us this website, kiva.org. Basically you can give money to people in third world countries to help them set up their businesses. It was incredible, as I got home and was bumping around on the site, I could see as the monetary goals were met for many of these aspiring entrepenures. Amazing.

Anyways, I just thought I would update all those helping to fund my education (ie. anyone who pays tithing), on what exactly I am learning here at this wonderful institution of learning.

Significant Happenings, Baby

Wow...it's almost Wednesday already. Time flies when you're busy!

Significant happening in my day:
1. Made it to communications successfully dressed as though I was "going to take a 8-10 hour flight." Our activity was to guess what everyone's scenarios were without then saying anything. It was interesting.
2. Watched Heroes, only to find myself more confused than ever!!
3. Worked on my Psychology annotation of Freud's "Interpretation of Dreams" chapter five.
4. Finished the watching the weirdest movie in the world, "The last Sin Eater," in my English class.
5. Discovered that I have a ridiculous amount of work due on Thursday.
6. Emailed my English TA about missing grades.
7. Sat through a very uncomfortable visit from our home teachers.
8. Walked to Broulims with April.
9. Took a 45 min shower (thank goodness I do not pay for water!)
10. Updated my blog finally

Tonight I shall sleep like a baby...or something...

Library Stalker Foot Massage

So for a communications project, to help us study Non-Verbal communication, I had to invade someones personal space and record on video their reactions. Cassie was nice enough to help me with ideas and be the videographer. So we decided to have me play footsies with someone in the library.

In the video I am in a maroon sweater and seen walking behind the rows of study stations and sitting down across from the girl in the dark blue sweater (The guy who kind of follows me is actually one of my FHE brothers). So while you are watching the video watch the girl in the dark blue sweater (fifth seat from the right) and see her reactions as I tenderly massage her feet with mine. Please also laugh at the girl who waves at Cassie at the very end, in her defense she did actually know Cassie, but it is still funny. Ok, girl in the dark blue sweater...

Well I hope you thoroughly enjoyed that. The end is the best when she does a hard core look under the desk. I feel like maybe I should have appologized for using her as a lab rat. But I didn't.

In other news I saw on campus today, the oldest Hoskin boy. Maybe some of you will remember when their family lived in our ward. I only recognized him because they have been amazing at sending us Christmas cards each year. I pretty much stalker stared at him, so he was probably a little freaked out, but he did accept my friend request on facebook!! What a small world it is, and what an even smaller mormon world it is!!!

King Phillip's New Blanket

I love Sunday's. It's the one day of the week when I feel like I have a social life. Not only does the Relief Society greeter give me a great big hello and pretend to be my friend....but I get to hang out with the most awesome people on the planet. Tonight we had dinner before the family phone call, and Cassie made this most delicious soup. When I was thinking about writing about it for some reason I kept thinking of the popular mnemonic device for remembering the taxonomy order; King Phillip Came Over For Good Soup. Probably mostly because Dan and Emily came over for good soup. Anyway, it really was amazing because it had real beef in it...something I have not tasted in a while.

I also was given a blanket to use as my very own (Tiff can have hers back now!). I was so excited to get home and try it out. It is fabulous. I even crawled out from under the covers long enough to let Batman give them a shot, and he likes them too!

(The only quilt that would remotely match my teal sheets, I love it though!! Not the sheets....the blanket...just clarifying.)

I also attempted decorating today. I was so ashamed I did not even take pictures. I think I need to go to the dollar store and find something nice and cheap to hang on my walls. Something, anything. I'll work on that and update you later.

Better Fried Rice Advice

After a long nights sleep, a noon time breakfast of Bishop's Bread (only the most amazing bread ever), and a long talk, I am feeling much better. No doubt I might still hate myself a little bit, but hey whats a girl to do!!

Anyway since I conveniently had nothing to do today, I conveniently did nothing. Well I did attempt to make fried rice but it turned out more like rice, peas, and scrambled eggs cooked in vegetable oil. It was still yummy though!!

I do hope that you enjoyed reading my notes from my last post as much as I enjoyed writing them. Also thank you for all the love and advice given, if I wasn't on such a tight budget and the sun had decided to shine today bringing the temperature up to a reasonable level, I probably would have taken it!!

A Noted Irritable Realization

Do you ever have those moments when you see yourself through someone else's eyes? It's not that you are worried about what your hair looks like (although finding mirrors that can give you that perspective is an amazing experience), you are worried about what you might have said to them that day or whether you remembered to call them back.

Well I "saw" myself today. My hair looked fab, but I had forgotten to call my visiting teacher back about what time she could come for a visit tomorrow, and I had been being extremely irritable. Unfortunately for me I didn't realize either of these until after my visiting teacher came to my apartment to ask me in person, and after making someone I care a lot about upset to the point of tears.

A little self realization has occurred since then, I honestly could care less about the embarrassing situation with my visiting teacher, but I do care that I can't seen to like anyone recently. Every little thing anyone does annoys me. There are golden grahams in my washed out bowl in the sink, my roommate is talking really loud on her phone again, I can't not answer my phone without facing an inquisition, or they haven't answered back my messages on facebook. Like really I wish I could just never talk to anyone again, like socializing wasn't necessary. Interacting yes, but not talking. When I talk is when I get myself into trouble. If only retreating from everything was the right answer....

On top of all of that, I spent my whole day (the reason I did not answer my phone) making a nice and neat little page of notes for my Psychology test today. I think all my time spent paid off. What do you think? (this is only the front side...the back is just as awesome and full)

If you click on it you get a humungo version that makes my minuscule handwriting legible. I got an 84% on the multiple choice and I almost positive I did way better than that on the essays.

Now for some more wallowing in self contempt and pity, trying as hard as I can to pretend that the world is not there.

The Speed Dating Chicken

I got bored today and made a profile on speeddate.com. Yes, I was really bored. So I go on and they have random people who see your picture and start chatting with you. You only have 3 min before they will move you to the next person unless something clicks then you can choose to chat for longer. So I'm on this stupid site, and the first person who starts to chat with me has the username "chelss" the picture was super far away and I couldnt even tell if they were cute or not, the 3 min ended without any sparks. The next one that came up confused me. The username was "pinkpassion" and the picture was very obviously of a female. I won't tell you what her intro was...or what "hotti_inLA" asked me...

Long story short, it took me a few minutes even after that to realize that I was being hit on by a bunch of girls because I had set up my account saying that I was interested in women.

What an eventful afternoon!

In my History and Systems of Psychology class we finally got to Skinner and my professor read us this hilarious quote from the great B.F. :

"Man is a complex chicken"- B.F. Skinner

I dunno Mr. Skinner maybe its the other way around!!

Fishing Blanket Bag Birthday

Notice anything extra on my bed? Tiffany figured that with the 100 mph wind we had last night I would be freezing, and put an extra blanket on me while I was sleeping. When I woke up at like 4:30 and went to take some more Advil, my blankets were a little bit heavier than normal. She just went up a few notches on the roommate ladder!!

I sat down in Communications this morning and slid my bag under my desk. A few minutes later I reached down to take out an assignment to turn in only to discover that my bag was stuck to the floor. So as not to cause a commotion, I slid my binder out and waited until the end of class to figure out what was going on. After class I sat down on the floor to look at my bag and saw a fishing hook, hooking my bag to the floor. As you may know fishing hooks are meant to go in easy but not come back out. I tried to maneuver the hook to let go of my bag without tearing it very much and it only sort of worked. Moral of the story, always look for fishing hooks before sliding your bag under a chair.
(My bag post battle with the fishing hook. I wonder how long it will take for that small tear to completely destroys the whole bag?)

I have to give a shout out to the birthday girl. Becky is 13 today!! She has already lost most of her childhood however, because she looks so much like a certain 19 year old!

We're a little bit special, I think!!

Shuttling My Goodbyes

This morning we woke up and went to church with a ward in Salt Lake. It was a very different experience. We got out at 12 and had a few hours before anyone needed to catch a plane or a shuttle, so we drove to Temple Square. As we got closer I recognized things having been there only a few weeks ago. But I saw a building that I didn't recognize, with plants and stuff on the roof. I am ashamed to say that this building was the Conference Center, and I am even more ashamed that I had asked what it was out loud.

We were able to get a tour of the Center which was mind boggling. It is huge!! Here are some pictures for you to enjoy.

This little girl toured with us. She had no inhibitions, she would ask whatever she was thinking. She kept asking Sarah about her necklace and if she could wear it, because she wanted a big one just like hers. She ended up holding hands with this tour guide for most of the tour. When her Dad tried to keep her with him she said, "I want Lady. [to the tour guide] Lady can I come with you?" (By a the original painting of Christs coming, its pretty much the size of my apartment.)(From the highest balcony looking down, they have a stage set up for recording a youth broadcast to be shown Christmas Eve.)

(Sarah taking a picture of Mom and Dad on the roof of the Conference Center, with the Salt Lake temple in the back ground.)
(Also on the top of the conference Center, the tour guide said they have something like 3-5 acres of just these grassy meadows.)

We left the Conference Center to get Sarah to the Airport, so she could check in and Mom and Dad could bring back the rental car. I got to wait with Mom and Dad for my shuttle to come and then have a silly phone conversation with me on the shuttle and them standing outside. It was a heart wrenching good bye, It was so much fun having them out here with me, and I wont get to see them again until December.

The shuttle ride had more stops than probably any other time I've ridden it. We stopped in Brigham City, Arimo, Pocatello, Idaho Falls, Rigby, a hotel just off campus, then finally at campus. Cassie picked me up from the shuttle and drove me to my apartment so I didnt have to walk all the way across campus with my things at almost 8:00pm. Thanks so much Cassie!!! And also thanks Mom and Dad for the grapes, banana, and crackers!!

The End.

Visiting Our Journey To Vernal

I woke up late today and given that I had forgotten to pack last night, this wasn't a good thing. I managed though. We (Dad, Mom, Sarah, Daniel, and Myself) piled into the little rental and began our journey.(The car, it was some ugly Chevy with no leg room but a fairly large trunk)

Our first stop was at my Uncle Clive's home in Ririe, Idaho. We stayed and talked for an hour or so, and met our cousin Diane and her daughter Jessie who is older than me. We then went to a hospital in Idaho Falls were my Aunt Joy was. We chatted with her for only a few minutes and met our cousin Kevin, who looks a lot like my dad. She was actually going to be released that day, and was looking pretty healthy!

We grabbed lunch and began our 6 hour drive to Vernal, Utah for the reception. I think that Dad and I were the only ones who were awake for the entire 6 hours. The scenery was amazing, as were the sandwiches, the incredibly slow drivers, and Dad's awesome passing skills. We made it to Vernal a few minutes late, but safe and sound!

I was really surprised to see familiar faces when I walked into the Cultural hall. Brent and Christie Smith had driven all the way up from Saratoga Springs to see us and congratulate Scott!! I can't believe how much their family has grown!

(Adorable!! I was so happy to see them!)

At the reception I met my mother's sister Ruth and her husband Mark. Two of their daughters were there with their families. I also met the rest of Cassie's family, and a bunch of cousins-in-law.(Scott managed to fit that entire piece in his mouth)

(I love this girl!)

After the reception, we headed to Salt Lake to a hotel near the airport. Dan met up with Heather at the hotel so they could spend the rest of the weekend together. We all lugged our things upstairs and slept wonderfully.

The Knot Has Been Tied

Today has been 100% insane!!

1:00am- Sarah, Mom, and Dad got into Rexburg
2:30am- Sarah and I finally stop giggling and went to sleep
9:00am- Sarah and Emily woke up
10:00am- Mom dove me to Walgreen's for some "must needs" and gel for Sarah
11:30am- Emily went to her Psychology class, everyone else went to the Luncheon
12:45pm- Emily finally makes it to the Luncheon which is now over, but still gets some food!!
3:30ish- Scott and Cassie are married!!

(There they are!! They look so happy, Cassie's eyes were literally gleaming!!)The Kinghorn Gang
From Left to Right (Back row:Uncle Lynn, Aunt Karen, Aunt Betty, Uncle Keith. Front-ish Row: Dad, Mom, Sarah, Cassie, Scott, Daniel, Me, Cousin Becca and her son.)(I think this is one of Cassie's favorite pictures)

5:30pm- After all the photo ops, Scott and Cassie departing, changing, and snacking, Mom and Dad took us shopping. Our main objective was to fill Scott and Cassie's cupboards with food as a surprise for when they returned. I wish I had taken pictures.
8:30pm- I worked on a paper while dinner cooked and Mom and Dad retrieved Daniel from a meeting he had.
10:30pm- Mom drove us kids home and we picked up wedding pictures on the way.
11:00pm- Finally home, super exhausted, but probably going to go wander campus with Sarah!!

Carnivorous Forum Of Hugs

This is our dustpan after I attempted to clean under our stove. Given the number of ants that came out with the food, hair, dust, and ping-pong ball, I believe this my help with our infestation.

I went to a forum for my Communications class today. The keynote speaker was Art Rascon, a news anchor from Texas, an Emmy award winner, and a member of the church. He gave some really good advice on how to conquer the Media as a negative influence on our lives. His key way was through the strength of our testimonies. He also told some amazing and hilarious stories.

Tonight I shall once again be reunited with my better half aka Sarah. I am excited beyond belief for this weekend and all that it entails. I also get to see my Mom and Dad tonight which is super exciting!! I hope my Mater (pronounced mah-tare, latin for mother) is ready to be the recipient of the longest hug ever!!

Yay for carnivorous sister folk!!

Psycho 409 Freezer Fixer

On Monday Maintenance Guy came to fix our refrigerator. It has been leaking from the freezer since we moved in. The constant puddles in our crisper drawers were finally just too much and we made our complaint. I was the only one home when he began the repairs. I was finishing up some statistics homework in my room and I heard him leave. I came out to find that our kitchen now looked like this.
Assuming he would soon return I finished my homework and chatted with my mother. Until I realized that almost 30 min had passed, I needed to go to class, and Maintenance Guy was nowhere to be found. After much deliberation, I left a note on the door apologizing for the fact that it was locked and that I had to go to class. Not two seconds after leaving my apartment I passed one of my roommates who I quickly explained the situation to, and than I ran off to class. I came back and our refrigerator was put back together and I'm pretty sure it no longer leaks!

Next up is this little guy...

oh, and this one too...

According to management and maintenance our there is nothing they can do about our ant problem. "Keep your apartment clean" is what they told us. Oh, wait does that mean that you should like rinse out your dishes instead of just letting them sit in the sink covered in food? Should I like not drop my cereal all over the floor and wait for my roommates to clean it up?

I was sitting on the floor in the kitchen trying to figure out where it was they were coming from, when I decided to look under the stove. This is what I found.

Apparently under the stove is not an area for white glove checks. How we are supposed to clean this with our 1950's vacuum cleaner I have no idea. We have however found that 409 work great as an ANTi-bug. Eating in a kitchen that reeks of poisonous chemicals after my roommate goes psycho with the cleaning supplies is not so great.

The Tuna Fish Play List

Sorry about the late post for you east coasters. I'm actually at Scott and Cassie's (Cassie is moving in more of her stuff and doing some cleaning). She most affectionately asked me to come "babysit" them tonight. I brought with me a list of some songs I thought they should add to their play list for the reception it included:

1. Another Mistake- Evan and Jaron
2. Brighter Than Sunshine- Aqualung
3. Vienna- Billy Joel
4. Sorry- Buckcherry
5. What if- Broken Fall
6. As Lovers Go- Dashboard Confessional
7. If God Made You- Five For Fighting
8. The Riddle- Five For Fighting
9. How to Save a Life- The Fray
10. A Little Time- Jonathan Clay
11. More Than a Picture- Jonathan Clay
12. After All- Jonathan Clay
13. Undeniable- Mat Kearney
14. Chasing Cars- Snow Patrol
15. You'll be in my Heart- Phil Collins

(Please note I was aiming toward Scott's very limited taste in music. When I get married I'll have better music at my reception. = ) These are all excellent songs, definitely all worth a listen!

I have been exceptionally busy today. I had tons of home work to do and I spent a remarkable amount of time on the phone with various people. And I attempted to make our kitchen stop smelling like tuna fish (it didn't really work). For next time, an update on my refrigerator, our ant problems, and more adventures from my crazy life!!

Singe Heating Winter Friends

It is officially winter here! I looked out my door this morning and this is what I saw! Yesterday most of the snow melted but I guess today its a little colder.

I did however get our heat figured out, so I no longer freeze my way through the night. Our heating system not unlike the rest of our apartment, is crappy and fueled by gas. Yes, this means that I will probably die in a gas filled apartment in Idaho. I mean look at this thing, it looks like something built by that crazy old guy from Back to the Future.
This next shot is taken looking inside the belly of the beast (right up the little opening under where it says "AIR-EASE"). How amazing it is that this flame has yet to even singe the wood door it sits less than 5 inches from!Sorry that it is dark...I wanted you to see the looming blue flames.

Anyways, if I do die here in Idaho, it will be with people who love me, well maybe. My roommate April has developed a slight obsession with cooking on her George Foreman. The other night she was cooking some chicken that she had marinated with soy sauce, vinegar, garlic powder, and onion powder.
(The lean mean grilling machine!)

I walked into the kitchen just after she closed the lid, and I saw delicious looking steam billowing out. "This must smell incredible, "I said to myself. I leaned over and took in a nose-ful of what I thought was going to smell like soy sauce and chicken. Instead the smell of cooking vinegar burned way back into my nasal cavity, no doubt singeing some nose hairs on the way. April had been watching me to see if her creation did in fact smell good, and upon hearing from me that it smelled fantastic, she took a whiff for herself.

"EMILY!!! What the heck!! (her nose twitching in pain) That does not smell good!!!"

We're friends though I promise...I mean this is the third semester in a row she has agreed to live with me...friends indeed!!

The Dyslexic Night Owl

Wow, I got posting today a little later than I had planned. I have been super busy this week, and today. There is just so much to do and so little time!!

We are down to five days before Scott and Cassie get married and I am so excited for them and to see my parents and my sister. It is going to be the most amazing weekend ever!! Even if "everything" goes wrong they will be getting married so it will all be ok. Let's just hope they are alive after this week!!

I really can not even think of anything intelligent to put down or anything awesome to tell you about so I'll just say this...

"Dyslexic's are teople poo"
"I weeked all work"
...and all the other ones I cannot remember...

9:00 is apparently too late to stay up for some people!! = )

My Genius Snow Beast

I just thought I would add this to today's post, thanks to weather.com....

Yup...here comes he snow, along with the 25mph winds. I think you know you need new windows when your blinds move anytime the wind gusts at all. The snow did hold off an extra weekend this year, but still, snow?!!?

Moving on, for those of you concerned about my study habits, particularly after beginning my blog and posting every single day. I wish to inform you of my current grade standings in each class, so as to ease your minds.

History and Systems of Psychology: 92%
Intro to Sociology: 89.1%
Statistics: 93%
Communications: 95.9%
Fundamental Literary Interpretations: 97.5%

I also beasted on my last statistics test getting the second highest grade in the class. The average on that test was a 66% and I got a 92%!!! This was significantly better than my score on the last test! I had ice cream last night to celebrate...go me!

The Sleepless Egg Thief

It turns out that my timing was perfect for getting my coat fixed. It has been pretty chilly out the last few days. Definitely coat wearing weather! I guess that I should have also worn my coat to bed last night, maybe then I wouldn't have woken up every hour because I was cold!! I think that perhaps it is time to upgrade from a sheet and a fleece blanket to something that will block the breeze coming in from the window I sleep right under!!

So I couldn't sleep and I crawled out of bed at like 7:30 in hopes of using the bathroom. April however was occupying it. So I threw on some clothes, grabbed my computer, and headed down to the Ricks. After using the bathroom there, I watched Grey's Anatomy and CSI then came back home to do homework before class at 11:30.

On my way into the apartment I noticed that Tiffany had made some very delicious smelling muffins. I then also noticed how full our garbage was. Then I noticed what was sitting on top of that lovely pile of garbage.

Please notice the initials on the egg carton and also know that I still have yet to cook breakfast, and for dinner last night cooked rice not omelets. There apparently is an egg thief in our apartment. The thief is lucky that I bought another carton of eggs this week or they would be dead right now. The thief shall remain nameless for now even though I know who it is. My empty egg carton will sit on our counter with my initials circled in bright red sharpie, lets see if they ever say anything to me...

*To update you...the bandit was discovered as well as the fact that really she had asked to borrow one of April's and instead took one of mine, so it was just a misunderstanding. We are still friends and she promised to get me a new one! Does any one feel like an egg is a silly thing to get upset over?!? IT'S NOT, this is a legitimate concern for the well being of all that is mine, if I have to go 2nd grade about it, I will!!

Lay Down The Buffet List Doc

Lunch today was amazing, an endless buffet of pizza...YUM!! I forgot to bring my camera with me though, so no pictures for you!

As I crawled into bed last night, after a long day of classes, and more walking then I usually do, it felt amazing. I lay there letting my head sink slowly into my pillow and it felt as though all the stress, discomfort, pain, aches, you name it were just seeping from my head into my pillow. It was amazing to focus for a moment on that exact feeling. The release was indescribable.

Then I thought wow it's really quite in our apartment until I noticed the slight ringing in my ears and all of a sudden in was so loud. All day today when ever there was a "silence", I couldn't help but notice how very loud it was. I guess I discovered how much that bothers me...I'll just add it to the list.

Things That Emily Has Recently Discovered Really Annoy Her:
1. The internal noise during supposed "silence"
2. The squeak of fake nails against each other
3. Excessive phone vibrations that no one stops
4. Someone leaving food in the sink after rinsing out their dishes
5. People talking embarrassingly loud in public
6. Living in a town of super conservatives
7. Hair on the walls of the shower
8. Gas stoves/ovens
9. Probability

and finally...

10. Not being able to present myself on my front stage...only ever putting on the real shows on the back stage that no one sees.

And really that isn't even close to being a complete list...perhaps I am simply a very irritable person, who knows?!?

What kept you going today?!?!

Ricks Western Granola

What a day!!

I feel like I actually go things done today! I wrote a 2 page paper for English, I brought my coat to the dry cleaners to get the zipper fixed, I picked up my coat and went grocery shopping. And I successfully used my debit card for the first time!!
(The cheapest brand at Broulims!!)

So now I'm playing...I'm down at the Ricks building (my home away from my home away from home) for good internets and a wonderful dinner. I forgot my head phones though so I convinced my roommate to walk down with her homework and bring them for me!! She gets a gold star!!

At the store today I bought oats, brown sugar, and vanilla so I can make my own granola. I'll probably try that on Thursday in between my classes. I also bought some yeast so I can make some delicious rolls...well as soon as I get he recipe from my mom!!

I am super excited for lunch at Craigo's tomorrow, with Scott Cassie, Dan, Uncle Clive, and Aunt Janice. It is going to be a party!! Really though I have been craving pizza so I shall eat to my hearts delight. I shall try and get pictures for you!

Adventures of The Tabernacle Panda

Friday:
We left Rexburg around 5pm. It's like a four hour drive, and we were planning on leaving earlier but hey, you can't win them all! We were planning on meeting up with Heather at her work to get her apartment key for Cassie and I. This was also Daniel's first stop on the scavenger hunt. We then when to her aunts house, a very willing Wendy's drive-thru, and another aunts house, before finally making it to her apartment. then while Dan got ready to propose, Scott, Cassie, and I ran to Smith's for some decorations and an amazing chocolate cake. Then we left Dan in her apartment and sat in the parking lot for at least and hour waiting to send Dan a text letting him know Heather was coming. She said yes and they finally let us come up so we could celebrate too! Then we went to sleep because it was like 2am.

(the bouquet Daniel got for Heather!!)

(sitting outside Heather apartment...yes its dark...it was like midnight)

Saturday:
Cassie Heather and I woke up at around 7:30, to head down to my uncles house. It was raining. After getting the "boot" removed from her car we got there right around 9am. It was still raining. Kieth and Betty gave us directions to the TRAX. We just missed our train so we were a little late to the first session. Still raining.

(A train leaving the station going the wrong way)

We watched the first session in one of the visitors centers, after meeting up with Cassie's cousin Chris. In between sessions we tried to get into the conference center just to look (I've never been inside it before), but they didn't let us. We got 5 dollar foot longs from Subway which were delicious, especially considering my lack of breakfast. We had some trouble trying to find a dry place to stand or sit that would let us consume our lunch.
(In Chris's moms car trying to find some place to eat our foods, while abiding by the strict law of no eating in the car!!)(We finally found a place to eat, under one of the pavilions at a TRAX station. Does Dan look a little cold?)

We watched the second session in the Tabernacle, which was cool cause I hadn't been there in forever. After we headed back to Uncle Kieth's. Where we would all spend the night. We stayed up late chatting and watching Myth Busters.
(sitting in the Tabernacle)
(I think Scott had a little too much conference....or maybe too much rain)
(stopping for gas...what a silly, silly guy)
(Uncle Kieth's mansi...I mean house)
Sunday:
Since it took us so long to dry out after our trip into Temple Square Saturday, we decided to stay and watch conference with my uncles and aunt.

(eating lunch in between Sessions...Uncle Kieth up front, Uncle Clive blowing his nose, Aunt Betty in the stripes)

We got on the road right after the second session. And stopped at Panda Express for so viddles. With only a few wrong turns we made it back to Rexburg safe and sound!!

Highlights of my weekend:
- leaving Rexburg
- Getting to see Uncle Keith, Aunt Betty, and Uncle Clive. They had so many stories about their missions and their kids, it was so much fun just to sit and talk with them!
- The protesters at temple square and the group of members trying to drown out the guy yelling "PORNO" with a beautiful rendition of "Come Come ye Saints".
- Daniel and Heather getting engaged and being able to help it happen!!
- Meeting second cousins who are almost as old as me!!
- Flirting/dating lessons on the way home in the car!!

Holy Sprinkler Testing Guy

I need to vent a little.

I spent more than 6 hours today writing tiny notes on both side of an 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of paper to take in with me on my Psychology test. It was beautiful. The lettering was just barely readable and it was separated into neat little groupings. The empiricists, renaissance men, early philosophers, important dates to know, and vocab were on the front; with rationalists, Plato, Aristotle, and random other things on the back. Might I also mention that in the making of this masterpiece I postponed a call home and m afternoon nap in order to finish it.

Then on my way out of the testing center the guy behind the desk makes me throw it away. I think he was confusing them as notes on scrap paper concerning question on the test(yes you have to throw these away), when really it was notes I had brought in with me (you're supposed to be allowed to take them out with you). I pointed this out to him, which for me is pretty bold, but he insisted. If I was braver, more willing to fight, and maybe even better looking, I probably would have in my hands at this very moment the only reason I got an 80% on the multiple choice portion of that test, and you would be looking at a picture of it. ::sigh::

In other news, some management person in our complex decided to leave the sprinklers on all night last night. So in my rush to get to class in the morning, I was splashing through puddles and dodging the vicious spray of the sprinklers. After making my way through said puddles my socks suddenly felt very wet. Wondering what had happened I instinctively looked at the bottoms of my shoes. It was then that I came to the conclusion that I need new shoes.

(A fantastic picture of the large holes in the bottoms of my shoes, taken after class and some serious ventilation.)

Its a good thing I have my "snow shoes" in addition to these pieces of junk! Last winter at this time we were starting to get snow! Oh, speaking of snow i found a cleaners out here that will fix the zipper on my coat, so i need to do that before real winter too.

I'm off to tackle an impossible pile of home work and start packing for our trip to Utah this weekend!!
